Useful day! Spindles in the Shop!

Today was useful! Among other things, I got some spindles finished and up in the shop! Yeah! Woot! Polishing, drilling, hook insertion and trimming, and notching! AND photographing and listing! I'll have some videos of some of that coming soon. Been a bit of a rough week, so ending up with a more productive day was a nice change. After getting the spindles made, I decided I had enough energy to actually do a bigger thing. It was a nice day, and it needed to get done so... I went out and blew the leaves off the front yard. Welcome to Autumn

Welcome to Autumn

After yesterday was rough, I let myself sleep in some this morning. Good choice, though I wasn't still back to full oomph. So I didn't try to push myself too hard today, reminding myself that if I'm only at half strength, giving my all means giving 50% not burning myself out to try for the 100% that isn't there. To add to the sleep fun, I have sleep apnea but my CPAP machine decided to die this weekend. So my sleep isn't as effective. And I got a fair bit done yesterday, which tends to bias my chronic illness towards a lot energy day today. This all led to my being VERY tired today. Foggy morning. With some morning visitors (a bluebird) But the sun...

A mix of things

Did a whole range of things today. Started out by drawing out a jackalope for a spindle!   A fun project. I have another jackalope spindle in mind, but it'll be a bit more involved and I may get another artist involved.Next up... actually next up was lunch. And tea.   That helped my flagging energy a bit. SO it was time to make some more spindles! I got the laser running on the ones I designed yesterday, and headed for the workshop! ::cue trumpets:: Doo doo doo doooo! Charge!Mandalorian spindle   A heavyweight plying spindle that doesn't want to...

Working on a new spindle pattern - Three Hares

Hey guys! So yeah, going to try to start using this blog again. We'll see how it goes!Currently, I'm working on a "Three Hares" motif for spindles! How does that happen? Watch the video, or continue for text explanation! @brewergnome Developing a new inlay pattern for my spindles. #woodworking #inlay #spindle #fiberart ♬ original sound - Dan the Gnome   I start with my references. References come from 6th and 7th century cave art in China, 13th century Mongol and Persian metalwork, Medieval European Churches, and 17th and 18th century German Synagogues.      With those I pull out my...
